Abstract

This study emphasizes the central role of financial inclusion (FI) in driving economic growth, alleviating poverty, and supporting sustainable post-COVID-19 recovery. This study employs a bibliometric analysis of 310 academic articles from the Web of Science (WoS) database, covering the period from 2013 to 2023, to explore global research trends on FI. The findings reveal that, following the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of publications related to FI increased by 3.5 times. The data fits an exponential growth model with 𝑅2=0.9, indicating that FI is entering a phase of rapid academic expansion. Among the 57 countries analyzed, Vietnam contributed 15 publications, received 1,756 citations, and ranked among the top 10 most influential countries, with a total link strength of 25—reflecting a significant level of international collaboration. The keyword “financial inclusion” appeared 113 times, with a total link strength of 946, positioning it as a central theme in the financial research network. The analysis identified five prominent thematic clusters: FI & CO₂ emissions, FI & energy, digital finance, financial development, and economic growth. The results affirm the essential role of FI in sustainable development, while highlighting untapped research potential and future directions for deeper investigation.
