Determinants of students’ scientific research participation – a case study in University of Finance – Marketing

Abstract
Scientific research of students is gaining much interest from universities and colleges. However, to attract students to do research is not easy. Thus, this research aims to determine factors affecting the scientific research participation of University of Finance – Marketing (UFM)’s students in particular and students in general based on a survey of 749 students who studied and are studying in UFM. The methods of Cronbach’s Alpha test, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and multiple regression were used in the research. The findings show that there are four factors influencing the students’ scientific research participation inclulding Research Environment, Motivation, Student Competence, and the School’s encouragement and interest. Of which, research environment has the greatest influence on the scientific research participation of students.
