Performance of processing and manufacturing firms in Ho Chi Minh City: A comparative study of firms located in and outside industrial parks
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper studies the performance of processing and manufacturing firms in industrial parks and export processing zones (generally called “industrial parks”) in Ho Chi Minh City. To fulfill this research objective, we compare firms in industrial parks and firms outside industrial parks based on the following indicators: return on total assets, the ratio of net exports to net sales and the ratio of tax pay to net sales. Analytical data is extracted from the 2019 Enterprise Survey of the General Statistics Office. The comparison is made according to the size and economic sector level 2. Findings show that firms in industrial parks generally perform better than firms outside industrial zones, but this result in small and micro firms only.
