Generation Z’s organizational commitment in the retail sector in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract
As Generation Z gradually replaces other groups in the workforce, certain concerns come into view on whether the distinct characteristics of this group pose challenges for managers to engage them at the workplace. However, like other generation groups, this generation still possesses basic work-related needs as well as perceptions of stress and uncertainty. Therefore, this study was designed to examine how the aspect of major resources (job security), organizational support (employee empowerment, supervisor emotional support, work-life balance) and employee psychologies (mindfulness) influence job satisfaction among Generation Z employees in the retail sector in Ho Chi Minh City, and to clarify how job satisfaction in turn relates to organizational commitment. It is grounded in two key theoretical frameworks: The Conservation of Resources theory and Social Exchange Theory Research approach used in this research combines qualitative research and quantitative research. The quantitative research med a survey sample of 335 Gen Z employees in the retail sector in Ho Chi Minh City SMART PLS 4.0 is assistance software which were used during our process of synthesis and data analysis to test the confidence interval, the validity and the importance of the variables. Based on these analyses, the research team formulated practical and strategic recommendations for business leaders to have a deeper understanding in Gen Z employees, which then can help to set up a better business strategy for promoting high-quality and robust young labor.
